What you need before week one

Roughly five hours a week outside the sessions. That is the honest number, and the one people underestimate.

The rule about AI

AI writes the query — you verify the logic and the numbers.

We teach the AI stack from week 3 because pretending it does not exist would make you unemployable. But an analyst who cannot check the answer is not an analyst, and the assessments are built to find that out.

The twenty-four weeks

Week 1

Data literacy and the analyst's role

What analytics actually is, the data lifecycle, and the question-first mindset. You leave able to frame five business questions from a messy Nigerian SME's records.

Week 2

Spreadsheets I

Formulas, cleaning, sorting, filtering, PivotTables. The dataset is a real mobile-money transaction log, because that is what you will be handed.

Week 3

Spreadsheets II and descriptive statistics

Mean, median, spread, distributions, and charting. First week using AI for exploratory analysis — and first week checking what it got wrong.

Week 4

Data cleaning and preparation

The part nobody advertises and everybody spends their time on.

Week 5

Visualisation and the dashboard

Building something a manager can read in ten seconds without asking you a question.

Week 6

Portfolio piece 1 — spreadsheet analysis and dashboard

Marked, returned with comments, and yours to show an employer. This is the first thing in your portfolio and it exists by week six.

PHASE 2 · RQF LEVEL 5 · WEEKS 7–12

Core — SQL and the database

ends with portfolio piece 2

Six weeks on the language every analyst job advertisement asks for. Querying, joining, aggregating, and window functions — worked against a real transactional schema rather than a teaching toy. AI SQL assistants come in at week 7, alongside the habit of reading what they produce before running it.

Portfolio piece 2 is a full business analysis answered in SQL, with the reasoning written up for a non-technical reader.

PHASE 3 · RQF LEVEL 6 · WEEKS 13–18

Advanced — Python and statistics

ends with portfolio piece 3

pandas, exploratory analysis, and the statistics that stop you drawing a confident conclusion from forty rows. Power BI and Tableau dashboards built properly, and no-code machine learning introduced at week 16 so you know what it can and cannot do before someone asks you to use it.

Portfolio piece 3 is a Python analysis with an insight report — the document, not just the notebook.

PHASE 4 · RQF LEVEL 7 · WEEKS 19–24

Strategic, and the capstone

defended in front of a working manager

Analysis that ends in a recommendation somebody has to act on, and the harder skill of defending it when they push back. The capstone is an end-to-end analysis against a real brief, presented at Demo Day and recorded.

You leave with four pieces, a certificate, and ninety seconds of yourself explaining your own work.

How you are marked

A human marks every piece of it. Certification needs 70% overall, all three projects, the capstone, and a portfolio review.
