Ascent Learn — Student Code of Conduct & Acceptable Use Policy
Effective / last updated: September 2026 · Version: 1.2
Ascent Tech Hub Africa Nig. Ltd. (trading as Ascent Learn), RC 7983215, Plot 12, Oladele Kadiri Close, off Nob-Oluwa Street, Ogba-Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria.
This Code applies to every student, in every course, online and at our physical hub. By enrolling you agree to follow it. It works alongside our Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy, and Refund Policy.
1. Our community standards
Ascent Learn is a place to grow with dignity. We expect everyone to be respectful, honest, professional, and safe. These standards protect your learning and everyone else's.
2. What we expect of you
- Respect every instructor, staff member, and fellow student — regardless of gender, age, tribe, religion, disability, or background.
- Participate in good faith: attend, do the work, meet deadlines, and communicate if you're struggling.
- Be professional in class and in our WhatsApp/community groups — the same courtesy you'd show a real employer.
- Keep your account private — your login is yours alone; don't share access.
- Protect others' privacy — don't share classmates' personal data, photos, or class recordings outside the group without consent.
- Take part in feedback & testimonials — completing course feedback and a short video/written testimonial is a required part of the programme (see Terms §6A). It helps us improve and builds the trust that lets us keep our prices fair.
3. Academic & AI integrity
- Do your own work. Plagiarism, buying assignments, or submitting someone else's work as your own is prohibited.
- Use AI honestly. Our courses teach AI tools — using them is encouraged. But where an assessment says to work unaided, do so; and never present AI output as fully your own where disclosure is required. AI assists your learning; it does not replace it.
- Don't fabricate data, results, or references.
4. Ethical & lawful use (especially security/tech courses)
- Use everything you learn only lawfully and ethically.
- For Cybersecurity and other technical courses: all offensive techniques are for authorised, lab-only practice. Never attempt to access, scan, disrupt, or attack any system, network, account, or data you do not own or have written permission to test. Students on these courses sign an additional ethics declaration; a breach is treated as serious misconduct and may be reported to authorities.
5. Acceptable use of our platform & tools
You must not:
- share or resell course materials, recordings, or logins;
- upload malware, or attempt to hack, overload, or gain unauthorised access to our systems;
- scrape or abuse the website/LMS;
- misuse third-party tools (AI, Zoom, dev/design platforms) against their terms;
- enter other people's sensitive personal or financial data into third-party AI tools.
6. Prohibited conduct (zero tolerance)
- Harassment, bullying, intimidation, or hate speech;
- Discrimination on any protected ground;
- Sexual harassment or misconduct;
- Violence or threats;
- Cheating or academic dishonesty;
- Disrupting classes or the learning of others;
- Recording sessions without permission;
- Soliciting students or staff for unrelated business, scams, or off-platform payments;
- Any illegal activity.
7. Conduct at the physical hub (Ogba/Ikeja)
- Follow safety, security, and sign-in rules; wear/collect any required ID pass.
- Treat the premises, equipment, and other people's property with care.
- Report hazards or incidents to staff immediately.
- No weapons, illegal substances, or intoxication on the premises.
8. Communication & community groups
Our WhatsApp/community groups are for learning and support. Keep messages relevant and respectful; no spam, scams, hate speech, or sharing of others' private information. Instructors and admins may moderate and remove content or members.
9. Reporting & safeguarding
If you experience or witness a breach of this Code — harassment, misconduct, or a safety concern — report it promptly and confidentially to your instructor, to the Center Manager, or to info@ascentlearn.academy (mark "Confidential — Conduct"). We take reports seriously, protect those who report in good faith, and respond fairly. Serious safety matters may also be reported to the appropriate authorities.
10. Consequences of breaching this Code
Depending on severity, we may: issue a verbal or written warning; require corrective action; suspend you from a class or the group; or remove you from the course. For serious breaches (e.g. harassment, cheating, unlawful "hacking", violence), removal may be immediate and without refund (see the Refund Policy), and we may notify authorities where required. We apply consequences fairly and proportionately, with a chance to be heard where appropriate.
