Ascent Learn — Cookie Notice
Effective / last updated: September 2026 · Version: 1.4
Ascent Tech Hub Africa Nig. Ltd. (trading as Ascent Learn), RC 7983215, of Plot 12, Oladele Kadiri Close, off Nob-Oluwa Street, Ogba-Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria. This Notice explains how we use cookies and similar technologies on https://ascentlearn.academy and our learning platform (LMS). Read it with our Privacy Policy.
In one line: we set two cookies, both our own and both needed to run the service. We use no analytics, no advertising and no third-party cookies at all — so there is nothing here for you to opt out of.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device to make it work and remember your choices. Some sites also use local storage, pixels and tags for the same purposes. This Notice covers all of them.
2. The cookies we use
Browsing the site — reading a course page, the fees, or this Notice — sets no cookies at all. The two below are set only when you do something that needs them.
| Cookie | What it does | When it is set | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
ascent_session |
Keeps you signed in. Without it you would have to enter a code on every page. | When you sign in | 30 days, or until you sign out |
ascent_country |
Remembers which country you are being priced in, so fees show in your own currency. | When you choose a country | 1 year, or until you change it |
ascent_session is httpOnly, meaning no script on the page can read it, and it is sent only on requests to us.
3. What we do not use
We think this is worth stating plainly rather than leaving you to infer it:
- No analytics. No Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, no heatmaps, no session recording. We do not measure you.
- No advertising or retargeting cookies. Nothing follows you to another site.
- No third-party cookies. No embedded players, no social widgets, no tag manager. Nobody else is setting a cookie through us.
- No local storage, and no pixels or tags. The two cookies above are the whole of it.
- No cookie banner, because there is nothing to consent to. Both cookies above are strictly necessary, and under the NDPA 2023 and the ePrivacy rules a strictly-necessary cookie does not require consent. A banner asking permission for cookies we do not set would be theatre.
If any of this changes we will publish a new version of this Notice before the change takes effect, and where consent becomes necessary we will ask for it properly.
4. Legal basis
Both cookies are strictly necessary to deliver a service you asked for, so we rely on that basis rather than on consent — consistent with the NDPA 2023 / NDPR and, for visitors in the EU or UK, the GDPR and ePrivacy rules.
5. Your choices
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; every browser has a help page for it. Blocking ascent_session means you will not be able to stay signed in, because that cookie is how we know it is you.
6. Do Not Track
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no agreed standard for it. We do not track you in any case, so there is nothing for the signal to switch off.
7. Changes
We may update this Notice as our cookies change; the version and date above show when. Earlier versions stay readable at their own web address, so you can see exactly what you agreed to and when.
