1. Definitions
"We/us/our" = Ascent Learn. "You/Student" = a person enrolled in or using our services. "Course" = any programme, cohort, class, or content we provide. "Materials" = curricula, slides, recordings, and resources.
2. Eligibility & registration
- Most courses are for adults 18+. Each course states the ages it is for, and we will not enrol anyone outside that range.
- Our foundation programme is for children aged 8 to 14. A child may enrol only where a parent or guardian has completed verifiable consent — meaning they hold their own account on the platform, confirmed by a code sent to a phone number they control. A tick-box on a child's device is not consent and we do not accept it.
- The parent or guardian decides, for each child, whether the child may attend sessions on their own or whether an adult must be present. They can change that decision, and withdraw consent entirely, at any time.
- Minors aged 15 to 17 may enrol on courses open to their age, also with verifiable parent or guardian consent.
- We ask for an age range, never a date of birth. It answers what we need while holding less about you.
- You agree to provide accurate registration information and to keep your account credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account.
3. Enrolment, fees & payment
- A one-time application fee of ₦15,000 applies at the point of application (separate from course fees). It is not refunded if you withdraw or are not admitted, but is refunded in full if we cancel or postpone a cohort — see the Refund Policy.
- Enrolment is confirmed when we receive the required deposit or payment and issue confirmation.
- Fees, currencies, and payment plans are as stated at enrolment. Instalment plans must be paid on schedule; access may pause if payments lapse (see the Refund Policy).
- Prices may change for future intakes but not for a cohort you've already paid for.
- Payments are handled by third-party processors; we do not store full card details.
4. Delivery of services
- We deliver courses online (weekend/live) and/or physically per the published schedule/timetable.
- We may reasonably adjust schedules, instructors, session times, or delivery mode (e.g. shift a class online) where necessary; we'll give reasonable notice.
- We may postpone or cancel a cohort that does not meet the minimum enrolment to run; in that case you may transfer to another intake or receive a refund per the Refund Policy.
- Live online sessions may be recorded for enrolled students' benefit (see Privacy Policy).
5. Certificates & outcomes
- Certificates are awarded on meeting the stated requirements (attendance, assignments, capstone).
- We do not guarantee employment, income, a specific job, or grades. Our courses aim to make graduates junior-ready with a portfolio; outcomes depend on your effort, market conditions, and other factors. Any "guarantee" we offer is limited to what is expressly stated in the Refund Policy or a written offer.
6. Student conduct & code of conduct
You agree to: attend and participate in good faith; treat instructors and other students with respect; not harass, discriminate, or disrupt; not share account access; and — for security/technical courses — use skills only lawfully and ethically, and sign any required code of conduct. We may suspend or remove students who breach these Terms, without refund where the breach is serious.
6A. Feedback, testimonials & media release (required)
Providing feedback and a testimonial is a required part of every Ascent Learn programme and a condition of enrolment. By enrolling you agree to:
- Give course feedback (written and/or survey) at the checkpoints we request; and
- Record a short video testimonial and/or provide a written testimonial at or near completion of your course.
You grant Ascent Learn a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable licence to record, reproduce, edit, publish, and use your name, image, likeness, voice, video, photographs, written feedback, testimonials, and course/project work for marketing, promotional, educational, and internal purposes, across any media or channel (website, social media, adverts, presentations, print), without further approval or payment.
- You confirm your feedback/testimonial is truthful and your own; you needn't disclose confidential personal or financial details.
- Minors — this licence does not apply. For anyone under 18 the position is different and deliberately narrower:
- Nothing of a child's — name, image, likeness, voice, video, photograph or work — is published for marketing unless a parent or guardian has separately opted in. Silence is a no.
- That opt-in is revocable at any time, by the parent or guardian, by email to privacy@ascentlearn.academy. It is not perpetual and not irrevocable.
- When a student reaches 18, the choice becomes theirs, and they may withdraw anything published while they were a minor.
- Live classes on the foundation programme are recorded for the cohort's own use. Consent to that recording is asked for separately from consent to marketing publication, because they are different things and a parent may reasonably accept one and refuse the other.
- EU / UK students (and anyone whose local law, e.g. GDPR, requires freely-given consent): you may opt out of public / marketing publication of your image, voice, and video at any time — before or after — by emailing privacy@ascentlearn.academy. We will not publish it, and will remove it from future marketing on request. For you, only public marketing publication is opt-out; completing course feedback and giving a testimonial for our internal quality and improvement use remains part of the programme.
- Participation in feedback/testimonials is part of the programme; declining does not create any refund entitlement beyond the standard Refund Policy.
7. Intellectual property
- All Materials are owned by or licensed to Ascent Learn and are provided for your personal, non-commercial learning use. You may not copy, resell, publicly share, or redistribute them without written permission.
- Your work: you retain ownership of projects you create. You grant us a non-exclusive licence to display your work (e.g. on a demo day or, with your consent, for marketing/testimonials).
8. Third-party tools & platforms
Courses use third-party tools (e.g. AI tools, Zoom, design/dev platforms, payment processors). Your use of those tools is subject to their own terms; we are not responsible for third-party services. Do not enter sensitive personal or financial data into third-party AI tools.
9. Acceptable use
You must not use our website/LMS to: break the law; infringe IP; upload malware; attempt unauthorised access; or scrape/abuse the platform. We may restrict access for misuse.
10. Disclaimers & limitation of liability
- Services are provided "as is" and "as available." We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free service.
- To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from the services is limited to the fees you paid for the relevant course. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses (e.g. lost income).
- Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Nigerian law (including under the FCCPA 2018) or other applicable consumer-protection law.
11. Data protection
We process personal data per our Privacy Policy and applicable laws (NDPA 2023/NDPR; and, where relevant, GDPR and other African data-protection laws). By using our services you acknowledge that policy.
12. Suspension & termination
We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms, non-payment, or unlawful conduct. You may stop using the services at any time; fees already due remain payable, subject to the Refund Policy.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms; the effective date shows when. Continued use after changes means you accept them. Material changes affecting enrolled students will be notified.
14. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We'll try to resolve disputes amicably first; unresolved disputes are subject to the [courts of Lagos State / agreed arbitration in Lagos]. Nothing here removes any mandatory consumer rights you have in your country of residence.
